Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the lakeland area.

As of 3:22pm, the M.D. of Bonnyville, County of St. Paul, and Lac La Biche County are under the severe thunderstorm watch.

That includes Bonnyville, Cold Lake, St. Paul, Elk Point, and Lac La Biche.

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain.

Roughly 15-25mm of rain is expected Wednesday with the chance of a severe thunderstorm. A north blowing wind will gust between 20-40km.

Environment Canada says it will become light near midnight with a low of 12 degrees.
