Dust control distances shortened by M.D.
The M.D. of Bonnyville will tackle dust control a little differently this year.
Due to the amount of requests from residents this year, M.D. council is shortening the distance they’ll dust control with MG 30 than in year’s past.
“Instead of doing a half mile in front of a residence, it’s shortened to a few hundred metres. Only because there’s a significant cost involved with each one of these,” said Reeve Greg Sawchuk.
The M.D. budgeted roughly $1 million towards dust control in 2019.
Sawchuk said that with the hire of new General Manager of Infrastructure Services, Abid Malik, and the change of how the M.D. is going about road construction, a new policy is coming into place.
“The whole road maintenance policy is being worked on right now with administration and I know it’s going to be a long conversation with council and kind of tightening things,” said Sawchuk.
“We still just ask people to call in if they have any of these sorts of issues to our 780-812-5000 phone line…with any of those road concerns.”
