Elk Point man charged with multiple theft related offenses

Elk Point RCMP have arrested and charged Clifford Melton for number of theft related charged.
On June 11, 2019, the Elk Point RCMP received information about a U-Haul truck involved in property crime in the area of Elk Point. While doing patrols, Elk Point RCMP members located the U-Haul on a property North of town. When members approached the truck, they located a male stripping copper wire.
After further investigation, RCMP arrested a male and seized the U-Haul truck. After conducting a search warrant of the truck, police seized copper wire, a generator, drugs and tools.
Clifford Melton (42) of Elk Point was charged with the following offences:
  • 7x Possession of stolen property
  • Possession of break & enter tools
  • 3x Possession of a controlled substance
  • Failure to comply with an Undertaking
Melton was released after a judicial hearing with conditions and is scheduled to appear in St Paul Provincial Court on June 27 2019.
