Students at Duclos Elementary school received a special treat at Wednesday’s Sports Day – the opportunity to douse a teacher with ketchup and mustard.
It was all part of the Human Hotdog Challenge, where students raised money to help pay down monies owing on their sensory playground. The playground was built two and a half years ago and has some money owed remaining.
From May 23rd to May 30th, students were challenged to raise $1,000 in seven days. If they were successful they would be allowed to cover teacher, Stacy Bauer, with ketchup and mustard.
The kids took to the opportunity and went above expectations, raising $2,566.
This project allowed our students to get actively involved in the fundraising for the playground equipment they enjoy daily. Classrooms donations were tracked, donations were compared, and the class with the highest amount of money raised, 1G, was first in line to turn Mr. Bauer into a HUMAN HOT DOG (but don’t worry, everyone got a turn!).
