Elk Point RCMP respond to shots fired in Fishing Lake

On June 3, 2019 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Elk Point RCMP responded to a report of a shot being fired outside a residence in the Fishing Lake area.

A white truck was reported fleeing a residence after shots were fired. No one was injured. Elk Point RCMP patrolled the area but the vehicle was not immediately located.

Approximately one hour later the truck was located on the Elizabeth Metis Settlement and Cold Lake RCMP attempted a vehicle stop. A short pursuit ensued but quickly ended after the truck ran over a spike belt.

A male fled from the truck and was arrested a short time later at a residence with assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services.

Evan Lee Gladue (29) of Cold Lake was charged with 12 Criminal Code offences, some of which include:

  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Discharge firearm while being reckless
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Uttering threats

He was remanded into custody after a judicial hearing and will be appearing in Cold Lake Provincial Court on June 19, 2019.
