Carmen Semeniuk named Principal of Light of Christ Catholic School
Lakeland Catholic School District is pleased to announce Carmen Semeniuk as the new Principal of Light of Christ Catholic School.
Carmen was born in St. Paul and has lived in Alberta her whole life attending school in Mallaig. Carmen and her husband Brad have four children, Jake (7 years old), Jorja (5 years old), Becky (3 years old) and Dylan (11 months old).
Carmen graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Lethbridge in 2007 and she obtained a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta in 2009. She began her teaching career at Vera M. Welsh Elementary School in Lac La Biche. In 2016, Carmen made the move to Light of Christ Catholic School when it first opened. She took on the role of Classroom Support Teacher (CST), and also taught grade 1 and French as a Second Language (FSL) to students in grade 4 to 8. Carmen was the Vice Principal at Light of Christ for the 2018-2019 school year.
Carmen has strong knowledge and application of current educational best practices including Assessment For Learning, Differentiated Instruction and Multiple Intelligences. She possesses a dynamic style rooted in cultivating strong relationships and promoting collaboration.
Outside of school, one thing that Carmen is particularly passionate about is the outdoors; she enjoys camping, fishing, quadding and snowmobiling.
Romans 8:28 is an example of scripture that resonates with Carmen. “We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.”
Carmen will commence her position as Principal in the 2019-2020 school year. Congratulations Carmen on your new position.
