Grande Parlour a step closer to theatre improvements

The M.D. of Bonnyville is supporting the Grande Parlour’s improvements.

The Grande Parlour is looking to create a better experience for the viewer during their plays. That includes improving the seating and tables, elevating the stage, and lights and sound equipment.

M.D. council approved the $25,000 ask from their community action grant, which leaves some fundraising efforts left for the Cold Lake Entertainment Society, who oversees the Grande Parlour, before they can begin work.

“Our overall project is $75,000. We looked for another third from the M.D., which they were gracious enough to give us. So we have to raise either by donation or in-kind labour,” said Craig Konechny, executive director, Grande Parlour.

Cold Lake approved a similar ask of $25,000 last month.

“We will look for the Verge festival to hopefully raise some dollars there. We may approach some local organizations in the community and see if they want to be involved,” said Konechny.
