Lakeland Catholic kids embark on Mission 2019
A group of teachers and students from Lakeland Catholic School District is about to embark on a Mission Trip to Ensenada, Mexico.
Religious Education Coordinator Mrs. Nicole Hebert and Instructional Learning Coach Ms. Anna Deligianis will be taking eight students from École Notre Dame High School and Assumption Junior/Senior High School on this week-long journey.
The group will travel to an all-girls home in Ensenada Mexico. While they are there, they will be doing a cross-cultural ministry package including:
- Building work – putting up drywall and mudding
- A feeding program for migrants and for people in another local area
- English camp/sharing God’s word
- Visiting a women’s prison and sharing God’s word
Since 2007, LCSD high school students in grade 10-12 have had the opportunity approximately every two years to participate in a Mission Trip. The purpose of the trip is to allow students to learn firsthand about social justice and the impact of poverty, to participate in acts of Christian service and cross-cultural experiences, which includes dialogue with people in other parts of the world.
By participating in this mission, we hope to form students as ambassadors and advocates of social justice. Past participants consider this to be a life-changing experience. – Lakeland Catholic School District
