Joint Task Force traffic operation leads to the interception of multiple offenses
On March 22, 2019 at 7:00 p.m., Cold Lake and Bonnyville RCMP, St. Paul and Vermillion RCMP Traffic Unit along with the Municipal District of Bonnyville Public Safety Department acted as a joint force to conduct a traffic operation. Fifteen officers and an analyst conducted 5 check stops throughout the MD of Bonnyville. The team intercepted over 250 vehicles in a three-hour time span.
“Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success. It was a pleasure to deploy jointly with the RCMP for this operation. It is important we work together to ensure the safety of our residents in the Municipal District of Bonnyville” states Chris Garner, Director of Public Safety for the MD of Bonnyville.
At the onset of this operation, Members interdicted a 22-year-old female driver for driving while impaired with a blood alcohol level double the legal limit.
In addition to the impaired the following violations were intercepted:
- 1 Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act offence which resulted in a criminal code investigation
- 1 Standardized Field Sobriety Test failure
- 1 failure to use a proper child seat with a verbal warning
- 2 Graduated Drivers License offences which resulted in suspension/seizures
- Other traffic offences:
- Failure to produce drivers license
- 1 ticket
- 5 verbal warnings
- Fail to produce insurance
- 1 warning
- Fail to produce registration
- 1 ticket
- 14 warnings
- No valid registration
- 1 ticket
- Expired drivers license
- 1 verbal warning
- Other moving traffic violation
- 3 tickets
- 12 verbal warnings
- No seat belt
- 2 tickets
- Burnt out headlight
- 1 verbal warning
- 1 Commercial vehicle inspection
- Failure to produce drivers license
