RCMP Report for Feb. 22

Bonnyville RCMP were dispatched to Kehewin in the evening on Feb. 18 after a report of a choking incident that led to a 41-year-old male’s arrest. He was charged with assault and failing to comply with an undertaking. His court date is set for Feb. 26.
On Feb. 19, a 29-year old male was from Kehewin was charged with two counts of assault after a domestic incident. It happened at 8:30am and the accused was seen by a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody before his first court appearance on Feb. 26.
RCMP are looking for more information on an attempted break-and-enter at the Glendon Korner Mart and Gas. The attempted break-in happened in the early morning on Feb. 19 as the owner arrived before the suspects could get in. There were two trucks on the scene, and RCMP believes one of them was used as a lookout.
A 25-year-old male will face charges of criminal harassment and failing to comply after the accused continued to go to a local business where he was not allowed. He was released on a promise to appear and as of publication, there is no court date.
Over the weekend, a work vehicle on the west end of 50th Ave in the industrial business area of Bonnyville was tampered with. The suspect drilled into the gas tank of a work vehicle. RCMP are looking for more information on the case.
RCMP charged a 36-year-old male from Langdon with operating while impaired by a drug, failure to comply with a drug demand, and possession of a prohibited weapon. The accused was pulled over during a traffic stop early Wednesday morning and admitted to having consumed cannabis before driving. He then failed a roadside impairment test and refused to provide a sample. During the investigation, RCMP found a pair of brass knuckles. As of publication, there is no court date.
RCMP have charged a 30-year-old female from Kehewin after a report of a break-in at a residence. The suspect stole a debit card and a vehicle. The suspect is a suspended driver. RCMP found her later inside the vehicle and was arrested and held for a bail hearing. She was charged with breaking and entering, theft of a vehicle, theft of credit card, theft under $5000, driving while prohibited, and failing to comply with conditions. It is believed that her court date will be next week, said the RCMP.
Slobodan pleads guilty to *assault
Yesterday, at Bonnyville Provincial Court 26-year-old Jarek Slobodan was convicted of assault and sentenced to six months and order to provide a sample of his DNA.
*The incident relates to an incident at local hotel in 2018.
Slobodan is currently in custody.
Stolen vehicle
RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance for a stolen vehicle in the early morning hours today (Feb. 22). Between midnight and 12:15 a truck was left running and unlocked in front of a residence’s house when it was taken.
It is a white 2002 GMC with a Saskatchewan license plate 272 KZZ.
