The Bonnyville Pontiacs are returning hypnotist Wayne Lee for their annual club fundraiser Friday night.

“It’s our third annual one with Wayne Lee. It’s been a popular event in the past and we wanted to bring it back,” said director of business operations, Robb Hunter.

“Obviously, it’s expensive to run a Junior A franchise, especially in a town this size, so any fundraiser we run to keep the hockey team on the ice is an important one, and this annual fundraiser is probably one of the more important ones we run over the course of the year.”

The event is at the Beaver River Fish and Game building. Lee will take the stage after cocktails at 5:30pm and dinner at 6:30pm. Then at 7:30, it’s time to be hypnotized.

Hunter says the timing of the event matches up nicely with the AJHL schedule as the trade deadline has passed, so the Pontiacs roster is set.

“It’s an opportunity for them to get out and meet fans and sponsors and people that come through an event like this, and for them to get on stage and be a part of the show as well. It’s a good teambuilder, but also obviously the emphasis is on the fundraising aspect of it, and we’re certainly hoping people come out,” he said.

The Town of Bonnyville supported the event again this year by purchasing a table.

“Absolutely, we’re big supporters of the Bonnyville Pontiacs. I understand they’re going to have the hypnotist back again. I guess he’s got some new things to try out in his act. It’s going to be some exciting times, it’s going to be a lot of fun,” said Mayor Gene Sobolewski.

Hunter says there are still some tickets available at $50 a piece. For tickets, visit the Pontiacs office or call them.

“We hope it’s full, we hope it’s packed,” said Hunter.
