4 Wing PSA says helicopter will be recovered from CLAWR
4-Wing air base in Cold Lake has released a public service announcement saying that a Chinook helicopter is recovering a Griffon helicopter from the Cold Lake Air Weapons Range this afternoon.
“A CH-147 Chinook helicopter will recover a CH-146 Griffon helicopter from the Cold Lake Air Weapons Range (CLAWR) at approximately 1:30 p.m. today,” the announcement said.
“The airlift recovery mission will run north to south, along Highway 897 (Primrose/Jimmy Lake highway), and will remain clear of built-up areas and other infrastructure.
“The Chinook helicopter will be at an altitude no lower than 500 feet above ground level and be visible while on route. The mission is expected to take 45 minutes in travel time before reaching its destination at 4 Wing Cold Lake.
“Royal Canadian Air Force missions are carefully planned and closely controlled to ensure public safety at all times. Aircraft participation is subject to weather and operational requirements.”
