Three arrested in stolen vehicle

On December 17, 2018, members of the Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit (EADRCRU) and members of the St. Paul RCMP were conducting an investigation in Saddle Lake when a stolen vehicle from Lloydminster fled from them at high speed.

A short pursuit then took place into rural St. Paul County where an EADRCRU member was able to disable the vehicle with the use of a tire deflation device.  The vehicle quickly became immobilized off of Township Road 592 and a high risk arrest was conducted on all three occupants by EADRCRU and St. Paul RCMP.

“Quick action by all police officers involved was crucial in getting these offenders stopped quickly and without placing the public at risk” said Cst. Guillaume Wilson (EADRCRU).  “We will continue to track down and apprehend repeat offenders, no matter how hard they try to evade us.”

Rayburn Jackson (45) of Saddle Lake was the driver of the vehicle and was already wanted in connection with a “Chop Shop” operation as well as other offences, including:

• Multiple counts of possession of property obtained by crime
• Flight from police
• Driving while prohibited

Jackson is also being charged with new offences, including:

• Trafficking stolen property
• Flight from police
• Dangerous driving
• Driving while prohibited
• Possession of property obtained by crime
• Possession of a controlled substance
• Failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance

Kenneth Steinhauer (50) and Raven Berland (19), both of Saddle Lake, were also charged with several offences, including:

• Flight from police
• Dangerous driving
• Driving while prohibited
• Possession of property obtained by crime
• Possession of a controlled substance

All three males were released by a Justice following a bail hearing and are scheduled to appear in court on January 10, 2019 in St Paul.

As this matter is now before the courts, no further information will be provided.
