St. Paul RCMP charge youth after responding to shot being fired

A 16 year old has been arrested after allegedly shooting someone at a Saddle Lake store.

 

On Oct. 24, 2018 at approximately 4:30 p.m., St. Paul RCMP responded to a report of male being shot in Saddle Lake near a business.

The suspect male was in a confrontation with a female victim at the business when a bystander attempted to stop it. The suspect male then grabbed a firearm from a vehicle and a shot was fired injuring another male nearby. The male victim suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

St. Paul RCMP seized a vehicle from the scene along with three firearms and ammunition. The suspect male turned himself in a short time later while police were searching the area.

A 16-year-old youth who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act was charged with:

  •           Assault causing bodily harm
  •           Careless use of a firearm
  •           Using a firearm in commission of an offence
  •           Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
  •           Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
  •           Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  •           Uttering threats

The youth was released after a judicial hearing and will be appearing in St. Paul Provincial Court on Nov. 8, 2018.
