Fishing Lake man charged following chase involving K9 Unit
A Fishing Lake man has been charged following a police chase, which ended after RCMP deployed the police dog.
On October 1st, RCMP spotted a vehicle, they believed to be stolen, travelling on Highway 55 east, towards Pierceland. The driver of the vehicle was known to police. He was wanted in connection to robbery charges, where it is alleged that the man used violence to steal tools from a residence.
RCMP attempted a traffic stop, however the vehicle continued east into Saskatchewan. At that point, the RCMP followed the vehicle and were able to stop it approximately 4 kms east of Pierceland.
The driver then fled on foot, which resulted in the RCMP deploying their police dog, Harp.
The suspect became physical with the police dog, with Harp prevailing and subduing the man. The man sustained minor injuries, while the police dog was unharmed.
Charged is 23 year old Andy George Lacombe, of Fishing Lake. Lacombe is facing charges of resisting arrest, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, and two counts of failing to comply with conditions in connection to the robbery.
Lacombe was remanded into custody until his next court appearance.
