Bonnyville RCMP Promotes Parke to Staff Sergeant

The Bonnyville RCMP detachment have promoted one of their own to a higher rank.

Sgt. Sarah Parke will now be Staff Sergeant at the Bonnyville RCMP, after acting in that role for almost a year, since S/Sgt. Gandolfi left for a (then) temporary job in St. Paul.

“I applied for it so I was seeking that position if I could be the chosen candidates and I’m happy to be the chosen candidate. I’m looking forward to working in that role of the detachment commander. I’ve kind of been doing for a year almost anyways on an acting basis, but it’s definitely peace of mind to know it’s a permanent thing,” said S/Sgt. Parke.

“I do, from experience, know that it poses some challenges, and the work can be challenging at times. Every day, I do find it to be rewarding and there’s nothing else I’d rather be doing, so I know in the right spot.”

It wasn’t until August that the position was advertised and applicants were screened for the job.

S/Sgt. Parke has been a police officer for 18 years and came to Bonnyville three and a half years ago.

“We’re quite embedded into the community. We really liked Bonnyville. Our kids go to school, they’re involved in sports and after-school activities, and we’re happy to be able to now know that we’re staying even longer now that I’ve moved into a new position that’s just effective now.”

Gandolfi is currently the regional manager in St. Paul.
