55 Plus Winter Games coming to Cold Lake
Pieces are falling into place for the Alberta 55 plus Winter Games being hosted in Cold Lake in 2019.
A volunteer board has been working with representatives from the city, organizing individual activities, marketing, finances, volunteers, and the entertainment that goes along with the opening ceremonies.
“We’re putting a Cold Lake spin on the opening ceremonies,” said Mayor Craig Copeland. “We want the participants to come to our city and leave with memories that will not be easily forgotten.”
The games will be taking place in Cold Lake from March 1 to 3 next year, with registration taking place on Feb. 28.
Though the volunteer board is up and running, there is still a need for volunteers for the games themselves.
“The organizing committee is doing an amazing job so far. As things come together, we are going to need a lot of volunteers to help out the weekend of the games,” said Copeland. “People can sign up now, even if they’re not quite sure if they will be free at the time.”
There are also a few positions on the committee that need to be filled, such as individual activity coordinators.
