Pontiacs Unveil New Logo and “Vegas” Looking Threads

The Bonnyville Pontiacs unveiled a new look Wednesday as part of their new “forward facing” strategy.

The new jerseys are decked out like the Las Vegas Golden Knights colours, dark grey for home and and white away sweaters. On the sleeves are gold bands and red accents. Also, Chief Pontiac now faces to the right – looking ahead, instead of behind.

Robb Hunter, Director of Business Operations, says it was time for an update.

“The team went through a bit of a tough year on the ice as everyone kind of knows,” said Hunter.

“The excitement we’re gonna have this year because of the change this year is almost a new beginning, a new start. While still honouring the Pontiacs honour, legacy, and tradition… let’s look ahead at the future.”

The Golden Knights look was chosen to add to the newness of a rebrand.

“Vegas obviously being a new team that’s what we were looking for as well, and we can really work the symbolism of what they represent, and what we represent as looking forward, being new, and fresh.”

Carmen Verrier and her company Pulp Cottage designed the logo. She said she wanted to be part of this project badly.

“The Pontiacs is beloved. It is known to be a symbol and pillar of our community,” said Verrier.

“We thought we could successfully incorporate history with a forward facing motion, and I think we exemplified here with this project.”

The profile of Chief Pontiac has changed to be more inclusive. Another addition to the emblem is a red and black arrowhead or shield behind the Pontiac.

The Pontiacs forward facing strategy is the organization’s brand enchancement campaign. It is meant to “incorporate longevity and sustainability for athletic pursuit of excellence,” as their official press release states.

Earlier this week, the Pontiacs announced an organization restructure.

Assistant Coach Neil Langridge will be the Assistant General Manager. Dean Moisan will assume the role of Director of Player Personnel and CJHL Transactions.
