Work set to resume on Highway 28 twinning
With the summer construction season here, work on the Highway 28 twinning project from 50 Avenue to 43 Avenue will begin this week.
The project is scheduled for completion June 27.
The twinning project, which began in 2016, also included significant upgrades to the Highway 28 and Veterans’ Avenue intersection, including the replacement of utilities under the intersection and enhancements to traffic control at several locations.
The public should expect some delays as work crews mobilize to finish this project, as well as others across the city. Information on other construction and maintenance programs affecting traffic will be released when available.
“We are past the largest phases of this project and we would like to thank the public for being very understanding,” Mayor Craig Copeland said. “Accommodating work in and around a major intersection is always a challenge, but this project is nearing completion and it will be well worth the wait. The main priority is to ensure that workers and motorists are safe while the project finishes up – some traffic delays will be necessary to make sure that is the case.”
