Update

 St. Paul RCMP have charged 19-year-old Frank Charlie Jackson with 12 Criminal Code offences in relation to this incident.

The charges include:

  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while being pursued by police
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Uttering threats
  • Assault a police officer with a weapon (x2)

He was remanded into custody and his next court appearance will be in St. Paul Provincial Court on June 14, 2018.

The youth female that was arrested in relation to this incident was released with no charges.

As this matter is now before the courts no further information will be provided.

Background

On May 16, 2018 at approximately 6:20 p.m., St. Paul RCMP responded to reports of shots being fired in Saddle Lake.

Police responded and started looking for a suspect truck with several occupants. The truck was located at a residence but quickly fled the area almost colliding with a police vehicle.

A pursuit of the truck was initiated and after a short distance the truck collided into a ditch. An adult male and a youth female suspect remain in police custody.

Police continue to investigate the details surrounding the shooting incident but can confirm at this time no victims were injured. Police do not believe this was a random act.
