RCMP Major Crimes Unit Investigates Homicide in Fishing Lake Metis Settlement

On May 19, 2018 at approximately noon, Elk Point RCMP responded to a call on the Fishing Lake Metis Settlement.

RCMP members arrived on scene and found a deceased adult female. Members from the RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) and Forensic Identification Section (FIS) are investigating the female’s death with the assistance of the Elk Point RCMP Detachment.

Marc JESS, a 27 year old male of Fishing Lake Metis Settlement, has been charged with first degree murder. He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in St. Paul Provincial Court on May 31, 2018

An autopsy will be conducted early this week at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton. The investigation is ongoing.
