Premier Academy is ready to Show off to Bonnyville
With some sweet aerials, awesome chants, and original choreography, the Premier Academy Cheerleading & Tumbling squad in Bonnyville has executed a dream of a first season.
Year One, as the club refers to it, has been filled with friendships, athleticism, and medals for the squad, said coach Melissa Kirkendall.
“The girls have done amazing, they’ve picked it up so fast and blown us out of the water,” the coach said both teams, Flicker & Fever, started the year strong at the Cold Snap Competition. Fever even hit zero (no errors in routine) at their first competition.
They’ve been on fire all year!
At the last competition the teams placed third, “they’re completely doing amazing!”
The teams will be headed to their final competition of the season this weekend. “We’ve added some new stunts. We’re going to see if that can bump us up over third place.”
The squad’s year end performance, “Show off to Bonnyville!”, will include audience participation, explained Kirkendall, “we wanted to have a day for kids who maybe have never tried cheerleading to come out. If parents are wondering what’s it’s all about, they can come watch the girls perform and then kids have an opportunity to try stunting and tumbling with our teams.”
It’s a fun day to come and join us and see what we’re all about.
There will be two performances on April 29th, at 1:45 pm and 3:30 pm, “in between those types we have 45 minutes of each, with a few stunt groups. We’ll have our girls who are more experience have some kids come and try. We’ll have some circuits set up as well.”
The club is open to kids 5-17 years old. Anyone interested in trying the sport is encouraged to come to the Centennial Centre from 1:30-4:00 pm, on April 29th.
