On January 2nd, at 6:30 am, RCMP received a 911 call of a male with a gun, who was banging on the door of a residence in the Cherry Grove area.

“The caller was awaken to banging at the door, which went on for several minutes,” Staff Sergeant Jeremie Landry, of the Cold Lake RCMP Detachment, explains, “the caller describes a female, wearing pajama pants with a blanket wrapped around her. The caller then says a male appeared, behind the female, with a gun.” They had asked to be let inside, claiming vehicle troubles, continues S/Sgt. Landry, “they were refused entry and it looks like more than one shot was fired into the complainant’s vehicle, in the driveway.” Following shots a male and female fled from the area on foot. “It was later determined that they fled in a vehicle that was not visible to the complainant”. Witnesses claim to have heard three shots.

“RCMP did attend and located two bullet holes in the truck,” S/Sgt. Landry says the investigation is continuing with the assistance of the forensic investigation unit. There is video surveillance footage that the police are reviewing as well. The only description the complainant was able to give was that he had believed the two individuals to be aboriginal.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Cold Lake RCMP Detachment at 780-594-3302.
