Man arrested at gunpoint in Cold Lake
On December 28th, around 11:00 am, Cold Lake RCMP were called to a situation where a 20 year old male had threatened his father with a knife. The male had fled on foot, before the RCMP arrived, in the direction of 50th Avenue in Cold Lake.
RCMP attended and located the suspect, near a flower shop in downtown Cold Lake, “he tried the door to get in, but did not get in,” explains Staff Sergaent, Jeremie Landry, “he produced a knife and was arrested at gun point. The suspect immediately released the knife and was arrested without incident.” At the time of the arrest, the male on a recognizance, as well as a probation order.
The recognizance stems from an incident in 2015, of which the man was charged with assault. That case is still before the courts in Fort Chipewyan.
Charges are pending on the male for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, failing to comply with a recognizance (x2), and failing to comply with a probation order. The male was released on a recognizance to attend court on Wednesday, February 14th, in Cold Lake.
