Yoga Cold Lake and the Cold Lake Public Library are partnering to promote wellness in the community. As of December 1, 2017, people can use their library card to sign out a 21-day pass to attend drop-in classes at Yoga Cold Lake. The pass waives the fees associated with the classes, allowing anyone over the age of 16 to attend classes such as Ashtanga Basics, Ashtanga Flow, Mysore, Vin Yin, Flow Foundations, Yin Yoga, Mindful Yin, Physi-Yoga, Power Flow, and Vinyasa, for free. Yoga Cold Lake has also provided the library with yoga class cards. One of these cards will be given to anyone (over the age of 16) who comes in to get a library card. The yoga card is good for one free drop-in yoga class at the studio. And library cards are free.

This new partnership segues into the 4th Annual 30-Day Yoga Challenge, which runs January 8 to February 6, 2018. Participants are encouraged to get on their yoga mat for a few minutes every day for 30 days, so they can establish that skill and foundation. Participants who register with Yoga Cold Lake, in person or through their website, can attend unlimited classes during the challenge, and include home practice as well. Included in the 30-Day Challenge registration fee are prizes, and a workshop entitled, Building Your Foundation. This workshop teaches people how to strengthen or develop a home practice, how to modify, and how to take the fear out of the basics. Angela Plaquin from Yoga Cold Lake stated, “The intention is to allow people to get into the habit; the very same thing the 21-day pass does. Yoga can be a wonderful movement experience that helps you take time for yourself, connect with yourself, build your self-awareness, and your physical strength and stamina. One of the best benefits that comes with regular practice of yoga is how you respond when you are challenged, and how do you take that off your mat. There are also benefits to your nervous system, to your immune system, your internal organ health and digestion, and your emotional balance.”

Disha Damania Jadav, the first person to sign out the yoga pass stated, “I think it is very innovative how the Cold Lake Library and Yoga Cold Lake have partnered to offer this 21-day yoga service to community members. I have attended three classes thus far and am enjoying every minute of it.”
