Ice secure two big wins in weekend action
The Cold Lake Jr B Ice took home four of a possible six points on the weekend, with two big wins and a loss. On Friday, the club was in Lloydminister, taking a 6-3 win over the Bandits, on Saturday, the club fell short in front of the home crowd with a 3-1 loss to the Wainwright Bison, and on Sunday, the club took a 9-0 win over the Vegreville Rangers. Head Coach Scott Hood says this is the time of year where every win will matter. “We have to stick to our game plan to be successful,” says the coach.
Game 1 vs Lloydminister
Jean-Guy Boisvert was the star of the game with a hat trick against the Lloyd Bandits. The veteran player also got an assist, making his points total for the night four. Also scoring for the Ice was Coltan Buchta, Conner Landry, and Evan Feehan.
Game 2 vs Wainwright
The Bisons maintained their top spot in the league with a win over the Ice. The Ice didn’t make it easy on Wainwright, holding them off in the first period and keeping the score close through the second. The Bison pushed in the third with a 3-1 final.
“Wainwright’s a good team, they’re in first spot for a reason and that’s where we need to get to,” Coach Hood praised his team’s efforts and goaltender Nelson Schiiler for taking on 46 shots. Jonah Henderson had the sole Ice goal of the evening, with a helper from Donavan Bibeau.
Game 3 vs Vegreville
In the third game of the weekend, the Ice skated all over the Rangers with a 9-0 win. Plenty of Ice players collected points in the match; including goals from Deni Kantel x 2, Shane Whitney x 2, Evan Feehan, Conner Landry, Jacob Bartman, Coltan Buchta, and Donavan Bibeau.
“We’re looking forward to the Christmas break,” the club will have a couple weekends off to enjoy with friends & family, before hitting the ice in the new year. Next up is a January 5th rivalry game against the St. Paul Canadiens.
