Driver blows through checkstop

On December 3rd, at approximately 1:00 am, RCMP were conducting a checkstop on Highway 28, near the Energy Centre. A vehicle pulled up and RCMP observed an unopened case of beer in the backseat. The vehicle did not stop for the checkstop and drove carelessly through Cold Lake North.

“Due to the manner of which the vehicle was driving, the vehicle was not pursued; but the driver is known to the RCMP,” S/Sgt. Jeremie Landry, of the Cold Lake detachment explains, “RCMP will be following up with several charges related that this incident and as soon as charges are sworn we will be able to identify the driver.” There are eleven charges specific to that incident and RCMP will be seeking a warrant for the driver’s arrest, confirms S/Sgt. Landry.

Cold Lake Victim Services would like to remind the public of their designated driver program, Operation Red Nose. The service drives you and you vehicle home, should you have too much to drink. The service is free in the City of Cold Lake. The service will also accommodate big parties by reservation. To book a ride call or text 780-812-5880.
