On November 4th, at approximately 7:30 pm, Cold Lake RCMP were investigating a collision on Highway 28, between the sailboats and Rona. “We had a marked police vehicle parked on the northbound shoulder, with his emergency lights activated. We had a tow truck, behind the police vehicle, also with his emergency lights activated,” S/Sgt. Jeremie Landry, of the Cold Lake Detachment, explains that while that collision investigation was happening, “we received a call to be on the lookout for a possible impaired driver. Shortly there after, that same impaired driver, struck the rear of the tow truck, causing it to then strike the rear of the police SUV.”

Arrested was a 55 year old male, from Cold Lake, with charges pending of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving with a blood alcohol level over 0.08.

“Extensive damage occurred to the rear of the police vehicle and damage also occurred to the rear of the tow truck,” confirms S/Sgt. Landry.
