“We’ve found our stride,” says head coach, of the St. Paul Jr B Canadiens, Joe Young, after a successful four point week for the team. The club met first Saddle Lake in a Wednesday night match, beating the Warriors 8-2 and moved onto Killiam, where they defeated the Wheat Kings 6-3.

“It was tight checking with Killiam,” Coach Young says the team didn’t let off until the end of 60 minutes, “we were tied 2-2 after the second and came ahead in the third. We were fortunate enough to get some lucky breaks.”

The first period went scoreless, with the Canadiens opening up scoring in the second from veteran, Dyson Roy, assist from Tyrell Bourk. Killiam answered back and advanced with goals from Dalton Zemanek and Clay Lang. Braydon Burak tied it up before heading into the third, with help from Dyson Roy , Alexander Astasiewicz.

The Canadiens went for four unanswered goals to kick off the third period; scoring was: Tyrell Bourk, Arron Gagne, Alexander Astasiewicz, and  Dyson Roy. Killiam put in a goal with just over a minute left in the game, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome. Canadiens win 6-3.

“Our goaltending has been very good lately, that was key. We kind of struggled in that area at the beginning of the year,” Michael Davis was in net for the Canadiens on Friday evening, taking 39 shots against. “We’re just playing better as a team, they’re getting to know one another. Over half our team was new, so obviously, there wasn’t much chemistry there. Now we’re seeing that there is and we’re benefiting from it.” The team picked up quite a few new players this season, says the coach, it was expected to take a little while for the team to begin to mesh.

Up next for the Canadiens are the Wainwright Bisons, at the Clancy Richard Arena, 8:00pm on Friday.
