Members of 42 Radar Squadron, from 4 Wing Cold Lake, will be convoying from Cold Lake, Alberta, to Wainwright Alberta on October 25, 2017 in order to participate in Exercise IRON RAM.

 

The 42 Radar convoy will consist of pickup trucks, three 15 ton trailers, and three Heavy Engineering Support Vehicles. It will travel via Highway 28 to Highway 41 to Wainwright, Alberta.

 

The local communities the convoy will drive through are:

  1. Bonnyville;
  2. La Corey;
  3. Elk Point; and
  4. Vermillion.

 

As a NORAD asset, 42 Radar Squadron further supports the daily training requirements of the Canadian NORAD Region by providing a radar and communications link to Canadian Air Defense Sector (CADS) in North Bay, Ontario. At any time the squadron can be tasked to move its entire radar system and ancillary equipment by road, air or sea to defend Canada’s sovereign airspace or, to support any assigned mission around the world within 72 hours‘ notice.

4-Wing Convoy from Cold Lake to Wainwright
