49 year old female charged with assaulting a police officer
October 9th, the Cold Lake RCMP were dispatched to a local hotel to help remove an intoxicated woman who was said to be causing a disturbance. Constable Alex Theibault with the Cold Lake RCMP Detachment explains the female became aggressive with the officer.
“The female didn’t want to identify herself,” Cst. Theibault says two officers responded to the parking lot of the hotel, “she was arrested for mischief and placed in handcuffs.” She was not cooperating with the officer, explains Cst. Theibault, “when the officer was walking her to the vehicle, she dropped on the ground and was kicking the officer. She hit one officer on the forehead and she later on hit the officer.” The officers were able to restrain the female and bring her to the detachment, where she was lodged in a cell.
49 year old, Debbie Anne Knott was charged with causing a disturbance, 2 x assault on a police officer, 2 x resisting a police officer. Knott appeared in Cold Lake Provincial Court on October 11th, she has been remanded into custody. She will appear next in court on October 29th.
