Accident at Cold Lake Middle School parking lot suspected to be caused by Impaired Driver
On September 16th*, at approximately 4:00 pm, the Cold Lake RCMP received a call of an intoxicated driver, at 48th avenue, near the Cold Lake Middle School. S/Sgt. Jeremie Landry explains, “it was reported to us that a female was operating a truck and she backed into another vehicle. Her pants were reported to be unbuttoned and she was stumbling all over the place.” Witnesses believed she was impaired and called the RCMP.
S/Sgt. Landry says luckily there was no one hurt in the incident, “no one was injured in the accident.” The female was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and provided breath samples at the Cold Lake Detachment 3.5 times over the legal limit. Charges are pending for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operation of a motor vehicle over 0.08 BAC.
“Obviously, it’s very concerning that this would be taking place at the Cold Lake Middle School parking lot. She provided breath samples three and a half times the legal limit; so, she was grossly intoxicated.” The woman was released on a promise to attend court on October 25th at 10:00 am in Cold Lake Provincial Court. “It goes without saying that anyone that gets behind the wheel with a blood alcohol level of 3.5 times the legal limit is putting a significant risk to the general public. It’s very fortunate that the only thing that resulted in this one, was another damaged vehicle in the parking lot; a school parking lot at that.”
