Cold Lake Ice Jr B Hockey Club Clearing Debt

Cold Lake Ice Jr B Hockey Club owes the City of Cold Lake approximately $32,000. At the Regular City of Cold Lake Council meeting on September 12, 2017, they were requesting support for $5,000 for the season. In exchange, the City would be recognized as a free youth admission sponsor for three home games.

Last year the City sponsored them for $2500 and they were recognized for one game. Councilor Bob Buckle stated that he would like Council to take a look at a six year platinum sponsorship for 5,000 each year which would eliminate the debt. “We would clear the slate and get on all the advertisements,” said Buckle. “They are trying to do well. Let’s help them get out of this debt.”

Councilor Chris Vining agreed, and Councilor Vicky Lefebvre added, “That’s a great idea, because of what they do for families and kids.”

City of Cold Lake Council passed a motion to table the issue to the next council meeting so Administration can meet with the Jr B Hockey Club to put a plan in place to discuss clearing the debt. All Councilors voted in favour of this motion.
