Assumption Crusaders Win on Heels of Big Comeback
The Assumption Crusaders had an interesting game this past Friday. The team was down early to Edson, but battled all the way back to get a victory.
Behemoth comeback
The Crusaders saw themselves down 30-0 after the first quarter. Things looked bleak in the early going, but turned around with some great play from Ethan Bloom, and Josh Gardner. The Crusaders had taken the lead 32-30 with six seconds left in the first half.
Second half comes easy
The Crusaders carried their second quarter momentum into the back half of the game. Josh Gardner seemed to be scoring at will as the game went on. All around the boys managed to play a solid offensive, and defensive second half. Holy Redeemer (Edson) looked to be generating a comeback with six minutes left in the fourth quarter. Assumption was having none of it however. The defense stood tall, and the Crusaders captured the victory. Final score 56-44. Josh Gardner had a standout game for Assumption.
“It just goes to show you that Josh has matured so much. He’s become a leader on the team. When he went down, and came off he said to himself he had to go make something happen out there. And he did. That’s why he’s a league all-star.” Coach Shayne Midford said of his quarterbacks effort.
