Terry Parenteau Confirms he will seek a chair on Fishing Lake Council
Council Chair for Fishing Lake Métis Settlement, Terry Parenteau, confirms that he will seek a chair on Council for another term. Parenteau explains that the position of Council Chair is appointed; rather than voted.
“It is my intention to run in the election. It will be the membership who decide who they wish to serve them and the community. Unlike municipalities the chair is appointed by a quorum of the elected officials,” Parenteau confirms that should the elected officials nominate him, he would love to continue to serve the community as Council Chair.
“I’d like to continue to be a part of building our community for the future generations of Fishing Lake Métis Settlement. It’s been an honour serving the membership and community over the last term.” Parenteau says he will continue to serve the people with the same values, “I promise to serve the membership with honesty, fairness, and dedication.”
If you would like to serve the membership on Council, you can pick up your nomination forms through the administration office. Nomination day is September 4th, all nominations must be handed in between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm on that day to returning officer Angie Durocher. You must be a member of Fishing Lake Métis Settlement to run for Council.
