Cold Lake resident, Bernard J. Methot, appeared before City Council to ask them to consider a new payment plan for seniors using the Energy Centre. He would like to see seniors have the option of paying on a monthly plan with debit; not yearly with a cheque or cash for $273.00.
He was inspired to come forward to Council after seeing the Bonnyville C2 Centre’s one-year payment plan option of $18.00/month. Methot explained how this new payment plan would allow seniors (especially those on a fixed income) to access the Energy Centre without having to pay the whole fee at once.
Mayor Craig Copeland said, “They would have a hard look at that,” and that Administration would likely recommend it go to the next Corporate Priorities meeting for further discussion.
