Cold Lake Man Convicted of Robbery with an Offensive Weapon
Armed Robbery Suspect Convicted
Gordon Walsh was convicted on July 26, 2017 of robbery with an offensive weapon and was sentenced to 2.5 years in jail, and a 20 year firearms prohibition. The jail sentence will be served in a federal penitentiary. He was also ordered to provide a sample of his DNA to be added to the National DNA Data Bank.
History: Charges Laid in Liquor Store Robbery
On June 28, 2017, at approximately 9:45 p.m. Cold Lake RCMP were dispatched via 911 to an armed robbery at a Sobeys Liquor Store in Cold Lake. As a result of this investigation, RCMP determined that the suspect entered the store, produced a knife and uttered death threats to anyone who followed him out of the store while he stole a bottle of liquor. Cold Lake RCMP identified and arrested 34 year old Gordon Walsh of Cold Lake who has been charged with the following offences:
- Robbery with an Offensive Weapon.
- Uttering Threats x 2.
- Possession of a Weapon for Committing an Offence.
- Theft Under $5000.00.
Gordon Walsh also had outstanding warrants for his arrest which were executed at the time of his arrest. Gordon Walsh has been remanded into custody next appearing at Cold Lake Provincial Court on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. by CCTV.
