Beyond Expectations

When Riwa Kamaleddine embarked on her quest to become Miss World Canada 2017, she said she didn’t expect her journey in the beauty pageant world to be so exciting. She started by wanting to try something new and see how far she could take it. After winning Miss East-Central Alberta, Riwa was invited to Toronto to compete in Miss World Canada. Unfortunately she did not place in the competition, which was held last weekend; but the 20 year old says she gained a lot more.

On her public Facebook Page, Riwa, Miss East-Central Alberta, she says, “I have gained friendships, confidence and love. I could not thank my community enough for supporting me in anyway. This trip was only possible because you took a chance on me and for that I am forever grateful!”

An element of the competition was “Beauty with Purpose”, contestants are encouraged to engage their communities and give make through community service. Riwa says that although the beauty pageant is over, she will continue to be actively involved, “I have gained friendships, confidence and love. I could not thank my community enough for supporting me in anyway. This trip was only possible because you took a chance on me and for that I am forever grateful!”
