Tennis Alberta and PlayCity Present the First Davis Cup Tennis Festival in Cold Lake #GoCanada

The Cold Lake Tennis community with the Support of the City of Cold Lake, has teamed up with Tennis Alberta and their partner PlayCity to offer their first tennis festival July 8, between 10am – 2pm at the, Ivan Krook Sr. Memorial Park, 1730-6th Street Cold Lake north.

The festival will celebrate the Davis Cup Tennis playoff, Canada vs India, taking place in Edmonton this September. The Davis Cup Tennis Festival will take place on July 8th

The City of Cold Lake will open the Festival with a ribbon cutting dedication opening the new courts.  There will be prizes, a photo prop area for taking pictures, a logo judging contest and much more.

This will be a fun filled afternoon of tennis to help introduce more players of all ages to recreational match play.  This is something Tennis Alberta is committed to expanding across the province by working closely with communities to host themed PlayCity Tennis Festivals.

The Tennis Festival will provide learning opportunities for both juniors and adults to get everyone ready to play. The juniors will have a chance to try out their new skills in a mini Davis Cup team competition, while adults will have a sampler of the Tennis Xpress program that will run over 6 weeks on the newly resurfaced Cold Lake tennis courts.

The afternoon will conclude with a fun one-point eliminator event where everyone will have a chance to play a point for a chance to win a big prize from one of our sponsors.

Participants in the event are encouraged to show their colors of red and white in support of Canada’s men’s team. Tennis Canada with PlayCity are also running a social media photo competition for communities and players to enter for prizes! More information will be available soon on the Tennis Alberta website.

In the future Cold Lake Tennis aims to continue tennis indoors, promoting year round tennis activities.

Be sure to connect with Cold Lake Tennis on their Facebook page (@ColdLakeTennis) to stay informed of all organized tennis play opportunities and download the PlayCity App, to stay in contact with local players.
