Colin Desnoyers names Numeracy Coach for LCSD

Lakeland Catholic School District is pleased to announce Colin Desnoyers as the new Numeracy Coach for the District.Colin was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He also lived in Havre, Montana before moving to Bonnyville, Alberta.

He graduated from Montana State University -Northern with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. Colin is married to Jacelyn and they have two daughters, Sophie age 7 and Solange age 6. His teaching career began at École Dr. Bernard Brosseau Middle School in 1995. Colin has been teaching Math and Science for twenty-two years. He has also enjoyed teaching Sports Medicine, Outdoor Education and Physical Education. He began teaching at École Notre Dame High School in 2010. He was the Lead Teacher for Math and Science in
both schools. Colin said, “I have had the great opportunity to be involved with the development of the new Math and Science curriculum by participating in Alberta Education Focus Groups for both subjects.”

Colin has presented at numerous conferences and workshops on Math and Science instruction and assessments provincially and internationally. He won the APEGA (The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta) award for teaching
excellence in Math and Science in 2005. When asked about what he hopes to bring to this position, he said, “I am looking forward to collaborating with my colleagues on bringing numeracy to the forefront for both students and teachers. I am eager to begin this new and wonderful opportunity.”

Colin will commence his position as Numeracy Coach in August 2017. Congratulations Colin on your new position.
