Cold Lake Citizens on Patrol waiting on Approval
Board has been created; Renee Lillico named president.
The Cold Lake chapter of Citizens on Patrol is ready to get patrolling. The chapter has held it’s first official board meeting and selected the board and bylaws, confirms founding member Matthew Lyons. Lyons reports the chapter is waiting official approval from the Alberta Citizens on Patrol (ACOPA) and once that comes in they will be official.
“Myself and Dave Winter were the ones who started the ball rolling. Brought on others to help out and get the group running,” Lyons says the group held an awareness night in early February, with approximately 75 members of the public in attendance. Presenters from the Alberta Citizens on Patrol explained the details of what it means to be a member of a Citizens on Patrol group, and how the Cold Lake group will now need to work with an RCMP liaison for training and to develop its organizational structure.
Following that presentation, a member of the Cold Lake RCMP Detachment was assigned as the group’s liaison. Lyons explains that there has been a lot of movement since the presentation, “we created a board and voted a few people as board members. Renee Lillico was put in a President of the board.”
Lyons says the group is ready once they receive approval, “we set up Bylaws to be approved by the RCMP and ACOPA.”
