Over 15K Raised for Prostate Cancer

3rd Annual Ride for Dad rides through the Lakeland

It was cold and overcast on Saturday, June 10, but 54 people came out for the 2017 Telus Motorcycle Ride for Dad. “This year the riders raised $15,970.00 for prostate cancer research and awareness,” said Chair of the event Mariann Deibert.

The 250 km route, which included poker run stops and a break for a BBQ, took the riders through Cold Lake, Frog Lake, Heinsburg, Elk Point, Bonnyville, and Ardmore. Although there were many riders from Cold Lake, several people came from other parts of Alberta. Lionel Sevigny was the top fundraiser.

Jocelyne Lanovaz and Alfred St. Jean came up from Edmonton for the ride. Laura Durant rode up from Bonnyville on her sports bike to attend, and Nathaniel Reed and Herb Thompson, also from Bonnyville, were riding for friends. Although the weather meant a lower numbers of participants than last year, the day was a success. “We would like to thank the sponsors, volunteers, pledgers, and riders,” said Deibert. Top fundraisers were Jocelyne Lanovaz, Lawson Squire, Peter Lasouski, and Terry Houle.
