Garner Recognized Provincially

Northern Lights praised for excellence in communication.

Nicole Garner has been selected to receive the Public School Boards’ Association of Alberta Special Contribution to Public School Education Media. Nicole was nominated by Northern Lights Public Schools.
Nicole is a proven leader. Prior to her joining the team at Northern Lights Public Schools (NLPS), she served as the Editor for the Bonnyville Nouvelle. Under her leadership, the Nouvelle won several Provincial and National awards.
Through her role with NLPS, Nicole has demonstrated an exceptional ability to “read” the NLPS communities and responds accordingly. Her in-depth understanding of the complexities that surround today’s Provincial Funding model of publicly funded education systems continues to be an invaluable asset to the organization.
Recently, Nicole was awarded a Coup de Coeur award from the Canadian Association of Communicators in Education for her publication Community Update 2015.
“As a parent, community member and in her role in NLPS, Nicole Garner is a true champion of Public Education and is highly deserving of this special recognition,” says NLPS Vice-Chair, Arlene Hrynyk.

Nicole’s contribution to Public Education was recognized in Red Deer at the Public School Boards’ Association of Alberta’s Spring General Assembly on Saturday, June 3rd, 2017.
