Pontiacs Celebrate Successful Year with Awards Banquet

Tribute to five players as they graduate.

“I had the privilege to be a part of the best junior organization in Canada, each and every single day,” Head Coach of the Bonnyville Pontiacs, Rick Swan, spoke to a crowd of sponsors, parents, and fans on Friday evening at the Centennial Centre in Bonnyville, for the team’s awards banquet. “Tonight is about appreciation, it’s a time to say thank you.”

Swan continued to thank the fans and donors who allow the organization to continue, and “the board members who allowed us to implement a mentality of positive change. As well as continue to grow our culture in the right direction as an organization.”

The voice of the Bonnyville Pontiacs, Robb Hunter was also honoured at the event in recognition in calling his 700th AJHL game. The monumental game came on March 29th, 2017.

“Although our goal is to always win a championship, it’s important to recognize the measure of this year’s Bonnyville Pontiacs cannot be measured by any sole player on the team’s accomplishments,” Coach Swan says there’s always a bigger picture at play, “I believe we’re doing the right things, as an organization, in growing a complete athlete and I always believe you create success by approaching every individual as an opportunity. It’s an opportunity to create both an outstanding citizen and an outstanding athlete; never either – or.”
