Five Charged following Police Chase
Located Stolen Vehicle Leads to Arrests & Charges
On April 20, 2017, Cold Lake RCMP located a stolen vehicle in the MD of Bonnyville. A spike belt was deployed deflating two of the stolen vehicle’s tires. The stolen vehicle continued for a short distance before stopping and all five occupants of the stolen vehicle fleeing on foot. All five suspects were apprehended by Cold Lake RCMP after foot chases through a residential property and nearby woods. One of the suspects was found hiding up in a tree.
Cody Ryan Spence, 18 years old of Lac La Biche, Alberta, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 and resisting a police officer x 2. Cody Spence was released on a recognizance to attend Cold Lake Provincial Court on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.

A 15 year old male from Cold Lake, Alberta, who cannot be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, obstruction of a police officer, and resisting a police officer. The 15 year old male’s next appearance at Cold Lake Youth Justice Court will be on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.
A 16 year old male from Cold Lake, Alberta, who cannot be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, obstruction of a police officer, resisting a police officer and failing to comply with a recognizance x 5. The 16 year old male was released on a recognizance to attend Cold Lake Youth Justice Court on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.
Kannan Desjarlais, 20 years old of Cold Lake, Alberta, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, resisting a police officer and failing to comply with a recognizance. Kannan Desjarlais was sentenced at Cold Lake Provincial Court on May 3, 2017, for possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 and received a 21 day jail sentence, a $200 victim of crime surcharge 6 months of probation.
