I’m Ready

Reeve Ed Rondeau confirms he will not seek re-election.

“I’m ready,” Reeve for the Municipal District (MD) of Bonnyville, Ed Rondeau confirmed with Lakeland Connect on Wednesday morning during a break of the Council Meeting. “I haven’t officially told [the media], but I’ll tell you. Yes, I’m not running again.”

Rondeau says after ten years as Reeve of the MD he’ll enjoy some time away from municipal government, “I’m excited to spend some time off.” Prior to serving as Reeve, Rondeau sat on MD Council, as a Councillor, for three years, “it’s time. I really enjoyed it. But it’s time.”

“I’m going to be 74 by the time I’m done as Reeve, so I’m ready.” The Municipal Election is October 16th, Rondeau says he hopes by announcing with Lakeland Connect that anyone interested in running for office may be inspired, “there may be some people out there, that like the job I’m doing and don’t want to run because of that. If they know I am not running, then that will give them time to decide if they want to and to prepare.”

“I want to go out on a win,” laughs the Reeve, who certainly after ten years in the seat can lay claim to many victories.
