Celebration Sofa is bringing St. Paul together.

The St. Paul FCSS is bringing people together in a really fun and cozy way with the #WeAreAllStPaul Celebration Sofa. Councillor for the Town of St. Paul Don Padlesky says the red couch has become very popular in the community.

“The idea was to take fun pictures, sitting on a couch, decked out in costumes, etc provided by the FCSS,” the Councillor says there are funny hats, oversized sunglasses, Canada Day sillies, and even UFO/alien theme costume items. “It’s to celebrate the Canada 150 and the 50th anniversary of the UFO landing pad.”

The couch is open to the public Monday to Friday at the Town Office, main floor, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. However, the couch is also on the move! Organizations and businesses can rent the couch to have, “the sofa is rented for the entire month of April,” confirms Councillor Padlesky. This weekend the Celebration Sofa will be at Smitty’s during the Jr B Provincials.

To rent the sofa, you can contact the FCSS 780-645-5311. It is free of charge; however you need to have two people available to “man” the sofa. This is to ensure none of the costumes go missing, someone is available to snap a picture and that the couch does not get destroyed. The Celebration Sofa will be on the move and around town, including at the Grad Celebrations, until the Rodeo on September long weekend. “When it’s all said and done, Rodeo Weekend, that couch will be given away as a prize!”

“Each week FCSS searches for the #WeAreAllStPaul hastag on Facebook and Instagram,” Councillor Padlesky says all the photos with the correct hashtag will be entered into a draw for really great prizes. Businesses can also give away their own prizes to help entice people to come check out the Celebration Sofa. For more information, visit the FCSS on Facebook.

No guarantee that Zoot will make an appearance, but word is that crazy alien loves the Celebration Sofa!
