Cold Lake Ice host rivals St Paul Canadiens on Saturday
Post-game report brought to you by Lake City Coach
Imperial Oil Place was home to the forth Battle of the Lakeland game, played out between the Cold Lake Jr B Ice and the St Paul Jr B Canadiens. The outcome, much like the previous three battles, a St Paul win. Head Coach of the Cold Lake Ice, Scott Hood says although the club lost, they battled hard.
“We played well,” Coach Hood recognizes the opponents achievements, “they’re a skilled team, 18-0-1. We would have had to play a perfect game and we didn’t play a perfect game. We battled and played well in their end, we had some great chances.”
Captain for the Cold Lake Ice, Curtis Witney opened scoring 4:13 in the first, off a feed from Brody Rosychuk. The Canadiens came back quick just over a minute later, at 5:52, from Isaac Porozni, assists to Kona Jackson and Jareh Gray. At 10:09 Kona Jackson, with Isaac Porozni and Ryan Rancier got the go-ahead and to add insult to injury Kona Jackson put in another goal before the close of the period, again with the help of Ryan Rancier to make it a 3-1 game.
That would be the end of the scoring for both clubs. The second and third played out like a typical rivalry match with hits, shots, penalties, and some misconducts & unsportsmanlike plays.
“We have three big games coming up, so we’re going to focus on that,” says Head Coach Scott Hood. The Ice are on the road for the remainder of December, visiting Frog Lake on Wednesday, and Killiam on Saturday.
The boys return to Imperial Oil Place January 14th, enter to WIN tickets to the game, thanks to Lake City Coach.
