The Elk Point Community Lions and the Elk Point Co-op teamed up to help eliminate hunger this holiday season by raising non-perishable food bank donations for the local Christmas Hamper Program.

The Co-op hosts a monthly food drive on the first Tuesday of the month and December’s donations were given to the Community Lions’ Christmas Hamper Program. The full day food drive raised approximately 500 pounds of food that will stay in the community to help those in need.

If you were unable to make the food drive but would still like to assist, you can purchase a Good Buy to Hunger food hamper bag at the Co-op all this week. You can also make donations through any Lion member, contact President of the Community Lions, Diane Peifer at 780-646-0648. The Community Lions are expecting a higher than usual demand this year and are in need of monetary donations, as well as food donations.
