Water’s Edge Restaurant
The Cold Lake Marina is beautiful even in the midst of a snow storm. Inside the Water’s Edge there is fire burning and hot drinks and delicious food waiting.
It was quiet in the restaurant with only one other table of diners; however, it was later in the dinner service.
Service, of course, was prompt and attentive. We started with a blueberry tea for me and drambue and coffee for Jan. My blueberry tea was delicious, served in a glass mug with a dash of cinnamon and garnished with an orange slice and cinnamon stick.
Our appetizer of Crab stuffed mushrooms arrived hot and golden
. These had excellent flavor, but there just wasn’t quite a big enough portion especially for the price.
I ordered the Goat Cheese Penne, substituting gluten free fusselini and adding a skewer of garlic shrimp. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish. The tangyness of the goat cheese was a wonderful contrast to the vegetables and sauce. The shrimp were done to perfection.
Jan ordered the Chicken Parmesan with a side of veggies and mashed potatoes and gravy. The potatoes were real potatoes and gravy was tasty. The chicken was tender with a nice crispy coating and a spicy marinara sauce. The veggies, carrots, zucchini and green beans were done al dente exactly as they should be done.
The atmosphere of the Water’s Edge is part lounge, part restaurant with a beautiful bank of windows facing the marina, but dark grey walls and ceiling. I found this grey a bit overwhelming. The music was a bit too “nightclub” for a fine dining experience. Overall, the view, even facing a winter evening storm makes up for anything else!
Atmosphere 4.7 out 5
Service 4.6 out of 5
Food 4.6 out 5
What a great winter evening experience. We will be back to try more of the menu.
